[Background] XANXUS was born into poverty with his mother in the lands of Italy. The woman was mentally ill – conceiving a theory that she had conceived the Vongola Nono’s child after discovering that her son had the ability to use the Flames of Wrath – something known only to the Vongola family. She thus named him XANXUS – using two X’s to symbolize what she hoped to be the rise to the position of the Vongola Decimo. She approached Timoteo – the Vongola Nono – one cold day, claiming that her son was his as well.

Timoteo accepted this story – though he knew it was just that. He took the young boy in under his care after he was shown his Flames of Wrath, adopting him into the family and claiming him to be his heir. Xanxus grew to be an arrogant boy, placing his self worth above others and constantly stirring up a fight with his classmates and many others. It was during his days of school that he meant Superbia Squalo – a man who later pledged his loyalty to him, deciding to follow his anger to power as Vongola Decimo.

In time, Xanxus rose to become the leader of the Varia. He discovered one day – after finding Nono’s journal – that he was not his legitimate heir to the Vongola name, therefore unable to take up the title of Vongola Decimo. Enraged, he staged a Coup D’état known as the “Cradle Affair”. He was, inevitably, defeated by the Vongola Nono through the use of an attack called the Zero Point Breakthrough. The attack resulted in the vast expanse of scars that appear on his body when enraged – an unfortunate result of the ice prison the assault encased him in for many years.

He was later released from his prison by the power of seven items – thought to be the Vongola rings – that allowed him to return to his position of power as the leader of the Varia. Nine years – nearly ten – before his fight with Rasiel, Xanxus stages a plan to destroy the last candidate for Vongola Decimo to make room to become the successor of the Vongola name for himself. He kidnaped the Vongola Nono – using him as a life source for his ‘Cloud Guardian’ machine known as Gola Mosca – and replaced him with a fake one. He and the Varia traveled to Japan to confront Sawada Tsunayoshi and his band of guardians before engaging in the Ring Conflicts, a set of battles that would be used to determine who the true successor to the Vongola Rings would be.

After managing to obtain a full Sky Ring, the Vongola rings proved to reject him as its successor. After a set of long, trying battles against Sawada Tsunayoshi, Xanxus was once more defeated by the power of the Zero Point Breakthrough. Nearly ten years in the future, he had been once more returned to his command as the Varia leader.

[Personality] Notorious for his violent outbursts and cold demeanor, Xanxus is someone many know though dare not to speak of. He tolerates little in ways of other people and seems to only really have the patience for those who make up the deepest, most trusted circle of the Varia. Even to them, he is detached, choosing instead to spend much of his time alone – or when in their presence – in silence. It isn’t uncommon for him to ignore you should you take the time to speak to him and if he does chose to respond, it’s often a rude reply and curse-laden. The usual front he presents to others ties in largely to his anger, something he commonly displays or reacts to often with the slightest pushes. His line of patience is thin, something that makes the terrifying anger easy to see if you know the correct words not to say or even the wrong names to spout off.

He has proven to be more than capable of many things – mentally and physically – though these abilities are largely shadowed by the heavy aura of laziness that looms about him constantly. He is rarely seen standing, forever inhabiting his chair – a place from where he can have violent physical or verbal outbursts as well as ignore the world around him when he feels the urge to do so. Despite being lethargic in many aspects, should Xanxus feel you’re an annoyance or you touch the much too delicate nerves that weigh his shoulders, he will not hesitate to react to the smallest thing with a large streak of violence.

Xanxus’ only concern is often for himself. He has little respect for anything or anyone nor does he have the slightest inclination to feel attached to any one person – though he will acknowledge things worthy of praise now and again in bored and often uninterested ways. He sees virtually everything as disposable, willing to throw away even his most loyal of subordinates if they’ve failed him without so much as a second thought. He believes no one to understand him nor does he care to give them the chance to.

He also has proven to be dangerously picky on many occasions. When he doesn’t approve of things he reacts childishly by rejecting it – throwing or destroying it if it’s a physical object. He is stubborn as well, unwilling to accept the harsh truth of certain things while being reluctant to accept other things he has been forced to accept he cannot change. This is most noticeable in regards to the Vongola Decimo of his time. He claims to still work under the influence of the Vongola Nono but he does acknowledge that the Sawada Tsunayoshi of his time has united the Vongola to the point that it will be at its strongest in times of peril.

[Specialties/Abilities] Xanxus is known for many things.

The most infamous is his use of a special form of the Dying Will Flame known as the Flames of Wrath. An extremely rare type of flame – the only previous user having been Vongola Secondo – the Flames of Wrath is a deadly embodiment of Xanxus’ anger that has the power to turn virtually anything into ash under its touch. Because of its destructive nature, it is considered to have storm flame attributes – something that mixes dangerously with his sky flames.

In combination with his Flames of Wrath, he uses a special set of weapons called the Dying Will Guns. Mirrored after the purpose of the Vongola Settimo’s weapons, the Dying Will Guns are used to store his flames of wrath and amplify their already deadly power into a super powerful blast that can easily pierce through any building – as proven in his battle against Sawada Tsunayoshi ten years ago. He can also use them as a means of propelling himself through the air in much the same way Tsunayoshi uses his gloves to move through the air.

His other main weapon is a special hybrid box weapon known as Ligre Tempesta Di Cielo – or ‘Besta’ as he calls him. Using the storm-like attribute of his Flames of Wrath and his sky flames, they mix together when opening Bester’s box to create a rare breed of box animal. Bester is most known for his terrifying Roar – an ability that uses the harmonizing effect of a sky flame to petrify his opponent before the storm flames finish the task by utterly destroying the target.

Despite being lazy, Xanxus has proven to be quite fast and physically able to hold his own – easily dodging attacks from Hibari Kyouya during their encounter years ago as well as being able to stop an assault from the force of his tonfa with a single hand. As the Varia leader, it’s said both his mental and physical strength far exceed that of a normal human.

He is also incredibly skilled at throwing any form of drinking glass at his subordinates. When he can’t do this, he has developed the ability to slam their faces into the nearest flat surface as well – though the latter requires too much effort, some days. Unless you’re sharky, then he’ll make an exception.

[Affection] As a generalization, you don’t mess with Xanxus. On the off chance that he lets you touch him and not harm you, he won’t do anything back. If you approach him for affection, you’re more likely to get slammed into the nearest wall or kicked across the room. That’s his way of showing he likes you? Only not really.

[Fighting] Anyone is able to fight / kill / whatever him. Fighting, however, will likely yield very boring results as he will not make any real effort to fight back outside of moving out of the way of attacks and the occasional blocking. It is very unlikely he’ll start a fight himself but in the off chance that he does, it’ll get bloody very quickly.
